The ancient name of Bihar was 'Vihar'. Which means monastery. It is located in the eastern part of India. Bihar is the 12th largest state in India by area and the third most populous state in terms of population. The Ganges river flows through this state before reaching the triangular region of Bengal, due to which this state is rich in flora and fauna.

The forest area of Bihar is also huge which is 6,764 sq km. Bihar is effective as a state language because many languages are spoken here such as Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Bajjika and Angika. The capital of Bihar is Patna, whose name was earlier Pataliputra.
Bihar became the center of power, culture and education under the rule of some of the great kings of India like Samudragupta, Chandragupta Maurya, Vikramaditya and Ashoka. There were also two great education centers of that time.
Vikramshila and Nalanda University. Even today, there are many ancient monuments in Bihar, testifying to its 3,000-year-old history and millions of tourists from all over the world come to see them. Mahabodhi Temple located in Bihar has been declared a heritage site by UNESCO.
