According to the website of IPS Recruitment, the total salary of a IPS officer in the top-most post of DGP is Rs. 41.84 lakhs (Rs. 3990000) a month. A Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with the rank of Commissioner of Police is paid a monthly salary of Rs. 25.74 lakhs (Rs. 3097125). An IPS officer’s salary is governed by the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) with a provision for increment, as per the government orders. The salary levels vary across the country, as per the Govt orders: – Top IAS officers of Kerala and Chhattisgarh enjoy the highest pay package, at about Rs. 21 lakhs a month. – The second highest-paid state police officer in India is the Director General of Police of West Bengal (WBG) who earns Rs. 19.57 lakhs a month.
