How many districts are there in Uttar Pradesh?

Uttar Pradesh is known as a Khushal state out of all the states of India. 

There were 70 districts in Uttar Pradesh till 1997. But when Mayawati, who was the then Chief Minister, created 13 new districts, in 1998, Uttar Pradesh had a total of 83 districts.

But in the year 1999, Uttarakhand was formed and with the formation of Uttarakhand, 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh went to Uttarakhand and again 70 districts remained in Uttar Pradesh.

But then after the new government came, the new government created two new districts Auraiya and Kaushambi and then increased the number of districts of Uttar Pradesh to 72 and thus now there are 75 districts in UP.

History of Uttar Pradesh

Talking about the history of Uttar Pradesh, we can study it by dividing it into five parts, such as prehistoric and pre-Vedic period (up to 600 BC), Hindu-Buddhist period (from 600 BC to 1200 AD), medieval period ( 1200 to 1857), British period (from 1857 to 1947), post-independence period (1947 to present).
